This is today’s tech take on the idea of a suicide hotline. Instead of making a phone call – something many people cannot bring themselves to do – people in crisis can text in to 741-741. Over 4000 trained volunteer crisis counselors are there to offer support for anyone who is in a crisis situation. We’ve confidently invested in founder Nancy Lublin’s leadership – the CTL organization learns and changes so rapidly as new data is gathered about the people who call and the help they need. CTL makes its data (all identifying info scrubbed of course) available so agencies and organizations can learn what’s troubling people and tailor their own services accordingly. Mental health emergencies are met by CTL in the “hot moment,” and there’s always an offer to connect texters to resources and support to stay on the path to a happier life.
